I understand from our lobe factory that the pump was a little noisey during test.

 

As you know the main repair was to renew and clean-up the pump head parts that were damaged.

Your original e-mail at the beginning of January did not mention anything about noise coming from the gear box.

As we could not have tested the pump when originally received we cannot say if the noise was at the same level as before.

Our engineer on the lobe factory just put the noise down to wear on the gears.

 

As you know we replaced the bearing housing as it was not cost effective to clean and repaint the old one.

The rear bearings were also replaced. We also replaced the diaphragm which we found to be damaged during further strip down of the relief valve.

We have got the pump back to good working order, as requested, so we are a little disappointed that you want to return the pump back so quickly.

Thank you for your shipping instructions and we will accept 50% payment towards the shipping costs.

 

The original price quoted for the repair did not, of course, include for the PTFE diaphragm which was found to be damaged only after our initial inspection.

The additional cost for supply and fitting the diaphragm is € 50.00 so the revised price for the repair is € 2,550.00 plus half the carriage cost.

 

As requested, we will not send the invoice to the customer along with the pump. With repairs, the invoice is not generated by the system and has to be created manually.

The invoice will then be posted to you after we send the pump.

As promised, I have checked with our lobe factory and the good news is that the replacement PTFE diaphragm has now arrived from our UK distributor.

As I mentioned earlier, we just need to cut this diaphragm to the correct size to suit the C2 pump and re-assemble relief valve housing. The rest of the pump is ready assembled.

We will do all we can to ship the pump out tomorrow.

This is to advise we are ready to reassemble this pump tomorrow morning.

 

We are not sure whether the pump had top shaft drive or bottom shaft drive.

We expect that it was top shaft because this is standard, but could you please confirm immediately as we intend to commence assembly at 06.00 tomorrow!

 

On stripping the pressure relief valve we found the diaphragm to be damaged. The original diaphragm was Nitrile which we can replace but we have a problem if you require

the diaphragm in PTFE as we have none in stock and the supplier has gone out of business!

We are looking for an alternative supplier but this will take time.

 

Please also confirm that we can use a replacement Nitrile diaphragm.

We have now carried out a full inspection of the returned pump and give you the following brief report and estimate of the cost for repair:

 

Inspection Report (Lobe Factory)

 

Evidence of 'galling' on the rotor case bores and light scoring on bottom face of rotor case.

One rotor badly damaged by 'galling' on the profile but rotor faces are OK.

The other rotor is also scored on the profile.

End cover face slightly scratched.

Mech seals and elastomers worn.

Bearing housing undamaged but is in very dirty and soiled condition with a lot of paint flaking off.

Pump shafts rotate OK but will need resetting.

Ports will need to be polished out.

Gears are OK.

Shaft sleeves siezed onto both shafts and will need breaking off.

Rotor bolts and shafts are all in reasonable condition.

 

To get this pump back into good working order we quote as follows:

 

New Parts  

1 x rotor kit (24252-0001B)

2 x shaft sleeves (24051-0013)

2 x mech seals, TC/TC (SP6080-0391)

1 x O-ring kit, PTFE (24284-9302B)  

1 x gear cover gasket (24247-000)

 

Labour:  4 hours

 

The labour time includes: 

Stripping down the pump, cleaning up existing rotor case, end cover, ports.and bearing housing.

Repainting bearing housing in white.

Reassembling pump with refurbished parts and new parts listed above.

Retesting.

 

Note: The pump model should then be renumbered as 26250-6211P

 

Net Price: € 2,500

Delivery:   approx 2 weeks from your instructions to proceed.
